Well, how do you feel about your smile? You see self-esteem and self-confidence are all about how you feel. If you are self-conscious about your smile and put your hand over your mouth when you smile or laugh, that’s a sign you need to come see an orthodontist.
Statistics show a self-confident person has a great smile; they are more successful at love, at work, and overall make more money. The stats don’t lie!
Look at orthodontics, to fix and build you a great smile, as an investment in yourself. Unlike buying a new car or the latest trendy outfit, a smile will last a lifetime and will keep giving and giving. A better job, a more attractive mate, a happier, more self-confident you!
Your smile is priceless, and you are worth the investment.
What are the signs? Any why is it important to fix my child's teeth?
You will know your child needs braces when their first permanent teeth come in turned, rotated, or crooked. This problem is generally termed “crowding” and can lead to many problems. Pain and discomfort are often associated with crooked or misaligned teeth or malocclusions or “ bad bites.” Crooked teeth lead to more gum problems and more cavities.
Let's face it, crooked teeth are harder to reach with your tooth brush and to keep clean, which can also cause yellow teeth and cause bad breath.
Another thing to look out for are “overbites” or “underbites” developing. An overbite is when the top teeth stick out too far or protrude over the lower teeth. This can lead to a whole host of issues, including mouth breaking, speech problems, “lisping” and tooth trauma, to name a few.
Underbites are generally more serious and can often result in “crossbites” , which may lead to tooth extractions in the future, or in rare cases, jaw surgery. About 3-5% of underbites end up needing jaw surgery with their braces, and treatment can last up to 3-5 years.
You may notice your child doesn’t smile much or not at all. He or she may seem shy and reserved, have limited friends, or may not be doing well in school. This could be a sign that your child is facing insecurity issues about their teeth or smile. How a child feels about themselves, or their self-esteem and self-confidence, will often affect their social skills and how they interact with other children and their teachers at school.
Building a healthy smile will help a child to blossom with self-confidence and pride. This inner feeling about oneself is the key to a successful, happy child.
When you think about your child's well-being, happiness, and success, think about their smile first. A healthy smile is a priceless investment in your child's future!
